Straw Blanket with Jute Netting
Straw Erosion Control Blanket
Straw blankets with jute netting provide reliable slope stabilization and erosion control in residential, commercial, and construction environments. These products are ideal for construction site runoff control, landscaping projects, DOT and roadway slope stabilization, and for use in parks, wetlands, and other environmentally sensitive areas.
Each straw blanket supports soil stabilization and promotes vegetation growth while degrading naturally. These erosion mats comply with BMPs for stormwater management and can be incorporated into broader erosion and sediment control plans on your site.

Jute Net Straw Blanket Details
Straw blankets and erosion mats provide reliable slope stabilization and erosion control in residential, commercial, and construction environments. These products are ideal for sites needing temporary protection while vegetation is established and surface soils are at risk of being displaced by rain, runoff, or wind.
The blankets use an all-natural, weed-free wheat straw interior held together by biodegradable jute netting. Jute is a woven organic fiber that helps keep the straw in place, adds surface roughness to slow water at the soil surface, and gradually decomposes over time. Because the jute netting breaks down rather than leaving synthetic residue behind, it limits long-term entanglement risks for wildlife and helps keep environmentally sensitive areas free of plastic netting.
When installed correctly over prepared soil and seeded areas, the blankets help keep seed and topsoil in place so grass and other vegetation can take root. These erosion mats comply with common BMPs for stormwater management when used as part of an overall erosion and sediment control plan.

Straw Blanket for Erosion Control Applications
Straw blankets with jute netting are versatile and can be used in various applications:
- Slope stabilization (3:1 or 2:1 gradients)
- Riverbank and shoreline protection
- Low-flow channel erosion control
- Roadside vegetation growth
- Restoration projects in natural habitats
Jute Net Straw Blanket Installation Guidelines
For optimal performance, follow these general installation steps:
- Step 1: Prepare the soil by removing debris, large clods, and sharp objects. Grade and level the area so water will flow as intended, and apply seed or soil amendments as required by the project plans.
- Step 2: Start at the top of the slope or upstream end of the channel. Unroll the straw blanket in the direction of water flow, making sure the blanket maintains full, uniform contact with the soil with no bridging or air gaps.
- Step 3: Create anchor trenches where required (typically at the top of slope and at key transitions). Place the leading edge of the blanket into the trench, backfill with compacted soil, and secure according to the project details.
- Step 4: Secure the blanket using biodegradable stakes or wooden pegs at regular intervals and along overlaps. Fastener spacing will depend on slope, flow conditions, and project specifications.
- Step 5: Overlap adjacent blankets by at least 6 inches along the sides and ends, shingling in the direction of water flow so upstream edges are on top of downstream edges.
- Step 6: After installation, lightly water the area as appropriate to promote seed germination and help the blanket settle into the soil surface without displacing seed or soil.
Note: These installation guidelines are general best practices. Always follow the specific requirements, engineered details, and compliance rules for your jobsite, including any applicable DOT standards, permits, and local regulations.
