55 Gallon Drum Spill Containment Applications

55-gallon drum spill containment is a necessity around facilities when accidents happen at any moment. Steel drums can be punctured by forklifts or other machinery, which will cause messy leaks and will potentially hurt people in your facility. Having a drum tourniquet and several back up drum tourniquets will ensure that you are ready when accidents happen. Additionally, steel drums can corrode from harsh chemicals. A drum tourniquet will be there when leaks happen there as well. The tourniquet is an important part of a 55 gallon drum spill containment kit.

Drum Tourniquet Frequently Asked Questions

A magnetic drum tourniquet needs to be attached to a steel drum by placing the two strong magnets against the drum frame until it sticks. Once the magnets come in contact with the steel, the drum tourniquet will be attached. The universal drum tourniquet uses a ratchet strap around the drum. This ratchet strap will need to be tightened and then the drum tourniquet will be in place.

The drum tourniquet can handle different types of environments and have certain temperature and pressure requirements for spill containment. The max amount of constant temperature that the drum tourniquet can handle is 194 F (90 C), and the max temperature that the drum tourniquet can handle for a short period of time is 248 F (120 C). Both models of drum tourniquet can handle 30" of head pressure (1.08 psi/759 kg/m2).
